Twelve young women competed for the title of Miss Buffalo 2001 at Buffalo State College in Rockwell Hall, on Sunday, February 18, 2001.  Scholarships totaling $2,550 were awarded.

Rebecca Lesniak of Depew, daughter of Monica and Dennis Lesniak
and a student at Buffalo State College, was named Miss Buffalo 2001.
She was awarded prizes including a $1,000 scholarship.
Rebecca's platform is Character Development.

Other finalists were:
 
First runner-up, winner of a $500 scholarship
 Roseanne Lockard of North Tonawanda

 Second runner-up, winner of a $400 scholarship
 Takiyah Nur Amin of Buffalo

Third runner-up, winner of a $300 scholarship
Lindsey Jakiel of Amherst

 Fourth runner-up, winner of a $200 scholarship
 Kristin Rotella of Grand Island.

Non-finalist scholarship awards were also presented:

Non-finalist Interview, winner of $100 scholarship
Renee Radomski of Cheektowaga

Non-finalist Talent, winner of a $50 scholarship
Nicole Festaiuti of Orchard Park.

The thirteen contestants vying for the title of Miss Buffalo 2000 were judged in four separate categories including: an eight-minute private interview with the seven distinguished judges during which they had an opportunity to talk about their community service and their platform, a swimsuit competition, a talent competition during which each contestant performed her talent, and an evening gown competition during which each contestant responded to two on-stage questions, one platform question and one general knowledge question.

WGRZ's Kevin O'Connell, the Chief Weather Anchor, Channel 2 News, and Maryalice Demler, News Anchor, Channel 2 News, were the Masters of Ceremonies.

The distinguished panel of judges consisted of: Jennifer Dittmar Campbell, Gregory Evans, June Williams Hoeflich, Honorable Barbara Howe, Rich Kellman, Rhodes Palmer, and David Weincek.
