Screening Audition: Once your application and proof of eligibility/residency is received (see below), the Contestant Coordinator will call each contestant and scheduled a Screening Audition. Each contestant takes part in a two-minute interview and performs their talent presentation for the panel of screening judges. (Talent costumes are encouraged but not required.) Scoring is done in accordance with Miss America Preliminary Pageant rules and regulations. |

Orientation: The 16 contestants scoring the highest in the Screening Audition will be named finalists to participate in the 2007 Miss Buffalo Scholarship Pageant. Every contestant will be notified by telephone or email on Sunday evening, March 4th and receive written confirmation by regular mail. Only the 16 finalists will take part in the Orientation. |

Workshops and Rehearsals: In order to help prepare each finalist for competition, the Miss Buffalo Organization offers two optional workshops focusing on interview technique, stage performance skills, wardrobe & makeup consultation. There are also several mandatory rehearsals which focus on the pageant production: teaching production number routines, modeling, public speaking and talent rehearsals. |

| Eligibility
Requirements |
| The
Miss Buffalo title is open to any single woman (never married) who:
|
|
|
(1)
is at least 17 on April 22, 2007 and no older
than 24 on January 31, 2008; AND |
|
|
(2)
is a citizen of the U.S.; AND |
| |
(3)(a)
is an Erie County high school senior or graduate;
OR
(b) has been a resident of
Erie County for 6 months
before April 22, 2007; OR
(c) has been an employee (40
hrs. per week) in Erie County
for 6 months before
April 22, 2007; OR
(d) is a college student who
has completed one semester as
a full time student
(minimum 12 credit hours) at a college
or university located
in Erie County and who is currently
registered as a
full time student at a college or university
in Erie County and
no more than 6 months has elapsed
between
the first semester and the current semester.

| Proof
of Eligibility/Residency |
|
|
Submit with the application form, a proof of residency (i.e.
photocopy of a valid driver’s license, voter
registration card, utility bill, school transcript,
or a tuition statement). Any application submitted
without proof of eligibility will be rejected. |

| Platform
Issue |
|
|
The
Miss America Organization encourages young women who
participate in the program to become involved in their
communities and to speak out on issues of concern
to them. Each contestant must choose a social issue
on which to focus. Contestants selected as finalists must submit by April 1, 2007, an essay which should include some of the following items:
1.
A clear definition of the platform and the specific issue(s) you wish to address
2.
A plan on how you have or will create awareness of the platform
3. The way in which you have or will change attitudes and/or behaviors regarding this issue
4. The way in which your platform issue will move the Miss Buffalo, Miss New York State and Miss America Organizations forward
5. Your media plans
6. How you propose to fund your ideas/plans
7. Any significant accomplishments you have made in regard to your issue

Evening Wear: A visual statement
of her presence and poise that should compliment the contestant's individuality. (20%);

On-stage questions: A general knowledge question and a question regarding the contestant's platform issue will be asked on stage. (5%).

|
|
Interview
- An outfit appropriate for a job interview |

Talent
- A costume that compliments the talent presentation |
|
|
Swimsuit
- One or two-piece swimsuit of reasonable taste, with
any type of footwear |

Evening
wear - An after-five formal outfit, any length |

Participation
is limited to 16 contestants.
Contestants will be notified when their
application has been received.
